Recommendations on Accounting for Crimes Related to Human Trafficking is Developed  in IPA CIS

The North-West Branch of the Russian State University of Justice hosted an All-Russian scientific seminar with international participation, which was devoted to discussing the draft Recommendations on the Identification, Accounting and Registration of Crimes Related to Human Trafficking in the CIS Member Nations. The document is being developed by the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.

Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security issues Alexander Borisov took part in the seminar.

Alexander Borisov said that the organization had developed and adopted Model Laws on Countering Human Trafficking and on Assistance to the Victims of Human Trafficking, Amendments and Additions to the Provisions of the Model Penal Code and Model Penal Process Code Related to Human Trafficking, and a whole range of other documents.

This work is ongoing: on the agenda is the preparation of Recommendations on the Recommendations on the Identification, Accounting and Registration of Crimes Related to Human Trafficking in the CIS Member Nations.

The seminar participants made suggestions and comments on the draft document. The importance of international treaties as a basis for combating such crimes was discussed. Attention was also paid to the analysis of national and departmental regulation of this sphere in the CIS countries, as well as promising areas of convergence of the legislation of the CIS countries.

Made suggestions will be taken into account when finalizing the document. It is planned to submit it for discussion by the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security issues in April 2025.
