Turkmenistan Hosted Meeting of CIS Advisory Board on Labor, Employment and Social Security

On 17-18 October, Ashgabat hosted the regular 37th meeting of the CIS Advisory Board on Labor, Employment and Social Security .
Representatives from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, as well as the CIS Interstate Statistical Committee, the CIS Executive Committee and other authorized bodies took part.
The experts considered the issues of improving the legislation on labor and social protection in the CIS countries, the state of employment and social benefits provided to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
The CIS Interparliamentary Assembly was represented at the meeting by Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights, Executive Secretary of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health Evgenia Vladimirova. She informed the participants of the meeting about the activities of the Assembly on the implementation of the Perspective Plan of Model Law-Making in the CIS for 2023-2025.
On the initiative of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights, the Assembly adopted about 70 Model Laws, 16 Recommendations of the IPA CIS, the Charter of Social Rights Guarantees for the Citizens of the CIS Member Nations, the Charter of the Elderly, and the Concept of the CIS Common Migration Area.
Evgenia Vladimirova noted that the agenda of the IPA CIS Council meeting to be held on 21 November includes Recommendations on the Assessment of Working Conditions at Workplaces in the CIS countries and the Recommendations on Requirements for Control of Labour Protection Legislation Compliance. The documents have been prepared in close cooperation with the Advisory Board and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Advisory Board and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus have prepared Recommendations on the Formation of a Model List of Types of Work, Which Prohibit theUuse of Labor of Persons Under Eighteen Years of Age, taking into account the types of economic activities in the Commonwealth countries.
Following the results of the discussion, the participants of the meeting decided to continue close cooperation between the Advisory Board and the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights in terms of developing and coordinating draft documents in the social and labor sphere.
On the margins of the two-day meeting, negotiations were held and documents were signed to expand cooperation in the field of labor, employment and social protection of the population between the CIS countries, as well as to intensify cooperation with sectoral cooperating bodies operating in the economic sphere of the CIS.
