Media Accreditation for International Forum “Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories” Opened

Media representatives are welcome to attend the Second International Forum “Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories”, which will be held in Makhachkala (the Republic of Dagestan of the Russian Federation) on 1-3 October 2025.
The accreditation is available on the website of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly at https://iacis.ru/meropriyatiya/registratciya/67/12 and will be open until 25 September.
The Forum will be attended by parliamentarians, representatives of executive and legislative authorities, business, educational and research institutions, and public associations from the Commonwealth countries and other states.
The main theme this year will be the role of municipalities in making environmentally relevant decisions for the sustainable development of mountainous areas. The aim is to propose mechanisms for local adaptation to climate and socio-economic changes.
The Forum program includes discussions on the following topics:
• Subsoil and subsoil use;
• Regional features of socio-economic development in mountainous areas;
• Natural disasters in the mountains;
• Issues of water use and water supply;
• Reclamation of nuclear facilities in the mountains;
• Modern approaches to the development of the agro-industrial complex in mountainous areas;
• Infrastructure development and energy supply in mountainous areas;
• Environmental protection and rational use of natural resources.
The event is organized by the IPA CIS, the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Republic of Dagestan, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation.

The first Forum on Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories was held in October 2023 in St. Petersburg at the Tavricheskiy Palace. Experts from 14 countries participated in the event.
The main ideas and proposals of the participants were reflected in the Final Resolution, which was sent to the parliaments of the CIS countries, relevant ministries and agencies, international organizations.
