Ombudsmen Were Presented IPA CIS Activities on Protection of Human Rights Under Digitalization

Under the chairmanship of Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova, a meeting was held to discuss the preparation of the IX meeting of the Eurasian Ombudsmen Alliance on the topic “Protection of human rights in the conditions of digitalization of society”.

Opening the meeting, Tatiana Moskalkova noted “earlier digitalization was perceived as a tool for economic development, but today it is perceived as a completely new phenomenon in terms of human and civil rights and freedoms”.

She drew the participants’ attention to the fact that last year the IPA CIS adopted two important Model Laws in the field of digitalization - on Digital Rights and on Digital Space, its Infrastructure and Regulation in the CIS Member Nations.

Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights, Executive Secretary of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health Evgenia Vladimirova took part in the meeting via video-conference.

Evgenia Vladimirova said “this year IPA CIS continues to work on Model Laws in terms of digital development of the society of the CIS countries”.

The Permanent commissions are working on Model law on Artificial Intelligence Technologies, a glossary in the field of artificial intelligence for CIS countries, Recommendations on Monitoring Electronic Voting, and others.

The IX session of the Eurasian Ombudsmen Alliance on the topic “Human rights protection amid the social effects of digitalization” will be held in Moscow on 9 October 2024.
