Results of Russia’s Chairmanship in CIS Summarized at Meeting of Council of CIS Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives

A regular meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS Member Nations at the Statutory and other Bodies of the Commonwealth was held on 17 December in Minsk.

At the meeting, Deputy Head of the IPA Council Secretariat Alexey Dolzhikov told the Plenipotentiary Representatives about the main directions of the activities of the IPA CIS.

The Council members noted the activities carried out by the Assembly to develop and strengthen multilateral integration cooperation. The Executive Committee of the Commonwealth was recommended to continue the practice of interaction with the IPA CIS on the issues of improving the contractual and legal framework of the Commonwealth, as well as assisting in the implementation of applied projects, including through sectoral cooperation bodies.

In addition, the results of the meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of Government, which was held on 12 December in Moscow, were summarized. The Heads of Government exchanged views on topical issues of economic cooperation in the Commonwealth of Independent States, approved the Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of digital transformation of the transport complex, the Agreement on Cooperation in the development of civil shipbuilding and production of ship component equipment, the Agreement on training of personnel for penitentiary services. At the meeting, the Program of cooperation development in the field of study, use, protection and monitoring of groundwater for the period until 2030 and the Action Plan for its implementation, the Plan of priority measures in the field of humanitarian cooperation for 2025-2026 were signed, and a number of financial issues were considered.

Chair of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS Member Nations Andrey Grozov,  delivered information to the statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth on the results of the Russian Federation’s chairmanship in the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2024.

The Council of Permanent Plenipotentiaries unanimously noted the effective work carried out by the Russian Federation within the framework of its chairmanship in the Commonwealth of Independent States.
