Results of Tajikistan Chairmanship in Commonwealth Presented to Permanent Representatives of CIS Member Nations

A meeting of the Council of Permanent Representatives of CIS Member Nations was held in Minsk. The key topic of the meeting was implementation of the Concept of the Republic of Tajikistan’s Chairmanship in the CIS in 2025 and the corresponding Action Plan.
As stated by Chair of the Council of Permanent Representatives, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the statutory and other bodies of the CIS Bakhtovar Safarzoda, based on the results of the first half of the year, it can be concluded that with active participation of all Commonwealth countries, objectives are being implemented consistently and effectively. Under Tajikistan’s chairmanship, meetings of the Council of Foreign Ministers, Council of Heads of Governments, and Economic Council have already been held, according to the CIS Executive Committee.
A session of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS Member Nations was held, along with about 60 expert events. Sectoral cooperation bodies conducted 24 meetings, reviewing over 250 issues.
According to Bakhtovar Safarzoda, special attention was paid to foreign policy coordination. Seven thematic consultations took place on key areas: human rights, disarmament, and international economic diplomacy.
In the security sphere, documents were approved on the joint communication system of CIS armed forces and on radiation and biological monitoring. Sessions of CIS specialized bodies in security, intelligence, and border cooperation were held.
On the environmental agenda, the International Conference on Glacier Preservation, held in May, is highlighted. The Dushanbe Declaration and the Dushanbe Appeal: Call for Actions were adopted.
In the legal sphere, concepts were approved on the exchange of legal information and preparation for the Year of Legal Education in the CIS.
For the first time in the CIS framework, the honorary title City of Labour Glory, 1941-1945 was established. In June, the Council of CIS Heads of State decided to award this title to 19 cities in the region.
Permanent Representatives also reviewed draft agendas for upcoming meetings of the Council of Foreign Ministers, Council of Heads of Governments, and Council of Heads of State of CIS Member Nations. The next meeting of the Council of Permanent Representatives of CIS Member Nations to statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth will take place on 19 August.
