State Duma Adopted Resolution on Development of Cooperation in Humanitarian Sphere with CIS Member Nations

The State Duma of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation adopted a resolution following the “Government Hour” dedicated to development of cooperation with CIS Member Nations in the humanitarian sphere. The document contains recommendations to the Government of the Russian Federation.

MPs proposed that the Cabinet continue implementation of international projects with CIS Member Nations aimed at promoting the Russian language, countering falsification of history, strengthening shared traditional spiritual and moral values, and preserving common cultural and historical memory.

Special attention in the document is devoted to education. MPs recommend creating new centres of open education in Russian and Russian-language learning in the Commonwealth, as well as considering the possibility of organising professional development courses for teachers from CIS Member Nations. It is also recommended to continue providing methodological support for sharing Russian experience in the field of education and to increase the number of international Russian-language school Olympiads in the region.

The resolution emphasises the importance of coordinating efforts with CIS Member Nations in countering extremism and terrorism and protecting children from harmful information. It also stresses the need for more active work on developing objective historical interpretations of key events uniting the Commonwealth countries and preventing distortion of historical memory in educational literature.

To strengthen information and media interaction, MPs recommend creating common media platforms (TV channels, online portals) to promote positive content about traditional values, historical truth, and the culture of CIS Member Nations.
