Bishkek hosts the 27th meeting of the CIS Advisory Board on Health Cooperation

Minister of Public Health of the Russian Federation Veronika Skvortsova was re-elected as Chair of the CIS Advisory Board on Cooperation in the Field of Public Health.

Deputy Chair of the CIS Executive Council – CIS Executive Secretary Konysbek Zhusupbekov informed the participants on the CIS priorities in the field of humanitarian cooperation in 2017 and the role of the Execom in the implementation of the adopted documents.

The Board members are discussing the draft Plan of Activities on Implementing the Strategy on People's Health in the CIS and establishing a dedicated body to prepare further proposals on joining efforts for the protection of CIS citizens' health and promoting joint health programs within the WHO.

The session considered the draft CIS Cooperation Agreement on Response to Disease Control and Prevention Emergencies and featured a dynamic discussion on further measures to enhance ties and cooperation with specialized UN agencies in the field of public health.

The meeting included reports on the stepped-up approach in fulfilling commitments in the framework of 2016 Political Declaration on HIV/AIDS and improving mechanisms of access of migrants form the CIS countries to medical and social care in transit and host countries.

The Board members are also discussing medical care for CIS citizens within compulsory health insurance and extending joint efforts in the field disaster and emergency relief medicine, establishing a working group on medical and sanitary support of civil aviation in the CIS, results of the work of ICAO and WHO, and cooperation in prevention and management of public medical/sanitary incidents in civil aviation.

The Board also discussed prospects of developing dental care for CIS citizens and the initiative on designing an intergovernmental trust program based on the introduction of the Smart Hospital technology across the CIS.
