IPA CIS Observers at Referendum in Kyrgyz Republic Met With TURKPA Delegation

As part of the monitoring of the referendum on the draft Law on the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic, the IPA CIS observers and TURKPA delegation discussed the electoral campaign.

IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator, Chair of the Committee of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan on Ensuring Constitutional Principles, Human and Civil Rights and Freedoms and the Rule of Law, Member of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Legal Issues Dilshod Rahmon introduced to the members of the TURKPA delegation the composition and methodology of the Observer Team. He spoke in detail about the short-term monitoring carried out by the observers.

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy invited partners from the TURKPA to take part in the International Nevsky Ecological Congress to be held this year in a mixed format on 27-28 May in St. Petersburg. He also invited the TURKPA representatives to the International Scientific and Practical Conference Technologies of the Electoral Process and Election Monitoring, which will be held in St. Petersburg on 13-14 May 2021 and will be dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of the IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD).

In turn, Head of the TURKPA delegation Recep Sheker told the meeting participants about the activities of the TURKPA, noting that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of the events were held online, but the organization continues to work in new conditions. He also thanked the IPA CIS representatives for the invitation to the conference.

At the end of the meeting, the participants expressed a common opinion on the need to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between the two organizations.
