IPA CIS Experts Developed Proposals for Draft Model Laws on Funds and Consumer Protection

On 2 March 2022, a meeting of the Expert Advisory Board at the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Legal Issues took place in the Tavricheskiy Palace — the headquarters of the IPA CIS.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of the parliaments of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Tajikistan, staff member of the St. Petersburg leading universities, as well as specialists and experts.

The meeting was opened by Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy. He announced that, by decision of the heads of the CIS parliamentary delegations, member of the Expert Advisory Board, Professor at the Civil Law Department of St. Petersburg State University Anton Rudokvas was awarded the IPA CIS Medal for Strengthening Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation. Subsequently, Chair of the Expert Advisory Board, judge of the 1st Western District Military Court, Member of the Council of the St. Petersburg Regional Branch of the “Russian Association of Judges” Yury Kozlov led the event.

During the meeting, the Expert Advisory Board considered the draft Model Law on Funds and the draft Model Law on Consumer Rights Protection (revised). Following the discussion, the members of the Expert Advisory Board decided to amend both draft laws, taking into account the comments and suggestions made and submit the finalized documents to the next meeting of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Legal Issues.
