Irina Sokolova Heads Public Chamber of St. Petersburg of Second Convocation

Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Irina Sokolova was elected the Chairperson of St. Petersburg Public Chamber of the second convocation.

The Chairperson named public health and employment issues as the priority tasks for the Public Chamber, as well as the preparation for monitoring of the voting on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

The Public Chamber is an instrument of civilian control, which provides communication between the authorities and society in resolving the most important issues of economic and social development, protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens, and the development of democratic institutions. The Chamber includes 63 volunteers.
