Valentina Matvienko: Interaction of Eurasian Women’s Forum and “Women 20” Should Develop Systematically

A meeting of the “Women 20” devoted to the “Participation of Women in Recovering Stability” took place in the Tavricheskiy Palace – the IPA CIS headquarters.

Opening the meeting, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko stressed the importance of its holding within the framework of the Eurasian Women’s Forum and noted the symbolic value of the fact that both forums began their work in 2015.

Valentina Matvienko also mentioned that according to the research 16% of businesswomen had started to develop new business areas in recent years, whereas 93% were ready to keep things going despite the difficulties, although such indicators did not change the objective to mitigate the negative effects of the pandemic for women and raise their role in the economy.

Among the key directions, Valentina Matvienko noted the new employment of women, digitalization, increased participation in the economy, business, high technologies, raising the financial literacy of women.

The Speaker also proposed to develop the cooperation of the Eurasian Women’s Forum and the “Women 20” on a systematic nature.

The event was also attended by Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova, MPs, heads of the W20 national delegations, representatives of public authorities, business circles, international and non-governmental organizations.
