Maulen Ashimbayev Re-elected Speaker of Senate of Parliament of Republic of Kazakhstan

On 26 January, MPs of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan unanimously elected Maulen Ashimbayev as Speaker of the upper house. His candidacy was presented by President of the country Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
On 25 January, the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan registered the members of the Senate elected from 20 regions, and appointed by the head of state. In accordance with the constitutional amendments following the results of the referendum, the President of the country appoints 10 members of the Senate (five of whom are nominated by the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan). Maulen Ashimbayev was among them.
