Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Adopts Laws in Energy Efficiency, Environmental Protection and Human Rights Protection

On 19 June, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan approved the amendments to the Law on Sustainable Use of Energy, which will serve the efficient use of energy, ensure systemic monitoring of energy use and the increase of real incomes.

The senators also considered the Law on Hunting and Hunting Industry, which aims to improve the legal framework of hunting and hunting industry entities, create favorable conditions for the protection of the environment through the efficient use of hunting resources.

The new Law provides for taking full advantage of the country’s hunting tourism, and attracting foreign tourists would allow increasing foreign incomes.

Besides, the senators adopted the Law on Geodesic and Cartographic Activities, which set standards for licensing, registration and keeping records of geodesic and cartographic works, maintaining state cartographic and geodesic cadaster and fund of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as for the state geodesic oversight.

The Senate also adopted amendments to the Criminal Executive Code aimed at ensuring the convicts’ rights and legitimate interests protection.
