Procedure for Participating in Court Sessions via Videoconferencing Defined in Uzbekistan

On 1 June 2022, the MPs considered and adopted the draft Law on Amendments and Additions to Some Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the digitalization of court activities article by article at the regular plenary session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The draft law establishes the procedural basis for sending SMS notifications to the parties about court sessions, and the possibility of online monitoring of the court appeal status..

Besides, the procedural foundations and procedure for remote participation in court sessions via mobile videoconferencing are established. is the Law also provides for a legal basis for drafting final judicial acts in the form of electronic documents via an information system, as well as submitting judicial acts to the parties via the Internet, SMS messages.

According to the chamber’s press service, the adoption of the document will help establish the procedural foundations for the use of modern technologies in court activities, as well as to avoid unnecessary red tape.
