Russian Senators Expanded List of Restrictions of Passive Suffrage

Today, the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation approved the amendments to laws on basic guarantees of electoral rights and the right of citizens of the Russian Federation to participate in a referendum and on elections to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
According to the press service of the chamber, the amendments expand the list of restrictions of passive suffrage. They state that heads, employees and other persons involved in extremist or terrorist activities are not eligible to be elected. These restrictions concern elections at all levels.
