 Kazakh MPs Approved Ratification Draft Laws to Protect Ecosystem of Caspian Sea

On 30 September 2021, a plenary session of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, chaired by Nurlan Nigmatulin, took place. During the event, the MPs approved the ratification draft laws aimed at protecting the Caspian Sea from pollution, as well as preserving its biodiversity.

According to the press service of the chamber, the MPs paid special attention to the issues of public participation in environmental protection processes, as well as legislative tools for solving and preventing environmental problems.

The Draft Law on Ratification of the Protocol on the Protection of the Caspian Sea from Pollution from Land-Based Sources and Activities Carried Out on Land to the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea and the Protocol on the Conservation of Biological Diversity to the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea was approved during the plenary session.
