Republic of Armenia celebrates Independence Day

Every year Armenia marks Independence Day with broad and illustrious celebrations.

This year the festivities will feature a big piano concert by a renowned pianist Eduard Kunz supported by the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia headed by Eduard Topchyan, orchestra leader and creative director.

Some of Yerevan’s subway stations will welcome a photo expo Yerevan: a Look from the XXI Century featuring photos of the city transiting from the 19th to the 20^th century.

Armenia became an independent state on 23 September 1991 after it left the Soviet Union, based on the results of the Referendum held on 21 September, under a decision of the Supreme Council of Armenia.
