Republic of Armenia celebrates Independence Day

Every year Armenia marks Independence Day with broad and illustrious celebrations.

This year the festivities will feature a big piano concert by a renowned pianist Eduard Kunz supported by the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia headed by Eduard Topchyan, orchestra leader and creative director.

Some of Yerevan’s subway stations will welcome a photo expo Yerevan: a Look from the XXI Century featuring photos of the city transiting from the 19th to the 20th century.

Armenia became an independent state on 23 September 1991 after it left the Soviet Union, based on the results of the Referendum held on 21 September, under a decision of the Supreme Council of Armenia.
