Hendrik Daems to Valentina Matvienko: We Remember Spirit of Unity That United Peoples of Europe in Fight Against Nazism

President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Hendrik Daems sent a response letter to Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, in which he expressed gratitude for the congratulations on the 75th anniversary of the Victory over Nazism. “We remember the spirit of unity that united the peoples of Europe in fight against Nazism”, he said.

He stressed that by celebrating this important anniversary we paid tribute to the memory of the victims of that awful conflict and expressed gratitude to those who fought against the Nazi regime. Hendrik Daems noted that these memories were a part of our common historical heritage, which we have to preserve.
