New Projects of Eurasian Women’s Forum Presented in Moscow

Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Galina Karelova chaired the meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Women’s Forum which was held via videoconferencing.

She told that the Third Eurasian Women’s Forum would be held in 2021 and informed on the main topic of the Forum – “Women: Global Mission in the New Reality” – and the concept of its business programme. The Forum discussions will be focused on the role and mission of women in ensuring global security, social progress, public health development, achieving a balance in the context of global digitalization, addressing environmental challenges and climate change and transition to the new models of economic growth.

Galina Karelova reminded that 20 projects aimed at the empowerment of women were implemented within the Council of the Eurasian Women’s Forum. The new projects, such as “Women Scientists and Global Challenges”, “National Strategy in Favour of Women – In Progress”, “Women Innovators”, “Club of Women Parliamentarians”.

The Eurasian Women’s Forum is the biggest international platform for discussing the role of women in the modern world. It is traditionally co-organized by the Federation Council of the Federation Assembly of the Russian Federation and the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. The Forum is operated by the Roscongress Foundation. The first and the second Forums were held in the Tavricheskiy Palace – the IPA CIS headquarters – in 2015 and 2018 accordingly. It brought together the opinion leaders of the women’s movement, prominent political, academic, business and public representatives.
