Preparatory Meeting for International Conference on Inter-Ethnic and Inter-Religious Dialogue Takes Place

Chair of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Foreign Affairs Konstantin Kosachev participated via video-conferencing in the second meeting with the leadership of the Interparliamentary Union and the UN representatives on preparation of the International Conference on Inter-Ethnic and Inter-Religious Dialogue.

The meeting brought together IPU Secretary General Martin Chungong, representatives of the UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and the UNESCO.

Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Valentina Matvienko initiated the Conference during the 137^th IPU Assembly held in the Tavricheskiy Palace in 2017.

The participants discussed substantive and organizational issues of the preparation for the event scheduled for May 2022, which will bring together heads of state, MPs and representatives of world’s major religions.
