IPA CIS Council
The Forum is taking place from 26 June to 6 July 2017 on the Issyk-Kul lake of the Kyrghyz Republic.
The organizers of the Forum are the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrghyz Republic and the Interparliamentary Assembly of member nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The event brought together 156 schoolchildren from eight CIS member nations: the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrghyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko and member of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrghyz Republic Chynybai Tursunbekov visited the territory of the camp of the international cultural and educational forum of the CIS member nations “Children of the Commonwealth” and talked with the schoolchildren.
Members of the IPA CIS Council also took part in a round table in the framework of the visit to the Forum: they answered the questions of children and listened to their suggestions for improving the Forum.
Valentina Matvienko noted that year the IPA CIS had celebrated its 25th anniversary. “All these years the Assembly has traditionally paid great attention to the holding of various cultural events aimed at integration of the Commonwealth in the humanitarian sphere. The Forum ‘Children of the Commonwealth’ is of primary importance among such events”.
Young participants of the Forum proposed to create a single online platform that would allow the YIPA CIS, “Children of the Commonwealth” and IPA CIS work together.
The children also proposed to consider the issue of admission of the participants of the forum “Children of the Commonwealth” to the universities of the CIS on a simplified basis, as well as to hold such forums more often than once a year not only in the Kyrghyz Republic.
Answering the journalists’ questions, the Chairperson of the IP CIS Council noted: “It is very important to preserve not only the national languages, cultures, but also the Russian language as a language of international communication that allows us to understand each other and contributes a lot to our educational and cultural development”.
Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrghyz Republic Chynybai Tursunbekov in his welcoming speech expressed gratitude to the teachers who participated in the work of the Forum, and noted: “The Forum takes place on the shore of the Issyk-Kul lake for the fifth time. Such events play an important role for our children. Besides, this year we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the IPA CIS. This parliamentary institution works to create better life conditions for children”.
