Meeting of IPA CIS Council Held in Bishkek

The Heads of the parliamentary delegations of the Commonwealth Member Nations held a meeting of the IPA CIS Council at the Ala-Archa State Residence of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko was re-elected Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council. Valentina Matvienko called the program of events of the Autumn session of the Assembly in Bishkek very rich of multilateral dialogue formats and communication on the sidelines of the forum. Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council expressed gratitude to the President of Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyz colleagues for the invitation to hold the IPA CIS session in Bishkek, as well as for the high level of organization of the events.
Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Shakiev highlighted the important role of the IPA CIS as a relevant and effective place for cooperation.
Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic Sahiba Gafarova, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ruben Rubinyan, Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova, Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev, Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva took part in the meeting.
Chair of the Committee of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Legislation and Judicial and Legal Reform Snezhanna Imasheva and Chair of the Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Issues of the Commonwealth of Independent States and Contacts with Fellow Countrymen Leonid Kalashnikov participated in the work of the Council.
Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy announced the agenda.
Nurlanbek Shakiev announced the information about the Chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic in the CIS.
Head of the CIS Anti–Terrorism Center Evgeniy Sysoev raised the issue of improving the legal regulation of counter-terrorism and anti-extremist activities in the CIS.
WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge spoke on improving the sustainability of health systems to achieve Universal Health Coverage.
Chair of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on State Building, Local Government and Regulations, Chair of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Practices of State-Building and Local Government Valentin Semenyako presented information on the work of the IPA CIS Commission.
Activities of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Science and Education were introduced by its Chair, Chair of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Science, Education and Culture Lilia Gumerova.
The heads of the parliamentary delegations were presented with the results of the past IPA CIS events.
Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachev spoke about the results of the X Nevsky International Ecological Congress held on 25-26 May in the Tavricheskiy Palace – the IPA CIS headquarters.
Chair of the Organizing Committee of the International Forum "Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories", Vice-President of the Group of companies of the VEB.RF Russian Export Center, Member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation in 2010-2015 Oleg Khatsaev informed on the results of the Forum.
Lilia Gumerova presented the results of the international conference “Russian Language as a Basis for Integration Dialogue in the CIS”.
Natalya Kochanova supported the forum and emphasised the importance of participation of all CIS countries.
Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy presented the work plan of the organization for the next year. The meeting concluded with an awarding ceremony.
Sahiba Gafarova and Natalya Kochanova got the IPA CIS order "Commonwealth". Nurlanbek Shakiev were awarded the anniversary medal “IPA CIS. 30 years”.
Tomorrow the work of the parliamentarians will continue. The delegations of the CIS countries will gather for the 56th plenary session of the Assembly.
