Prospects of IPA CIS Model Lawmaking to be Discussed at Round Table in St. Petersburg

On 21 May 2025, a round table “Prospects of model lawmaking of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Dialogue and Solutions” will be held at the Parliamentary Center of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS as a part of the XIII St. Petersburg International Legal Forum in.
The discussion is timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Convention on the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS and is aimed at a comprehensive analysis of the accumulated experience of model lawmaking and the formation of approaches to the further development of the legal foundations of cooperation in the region.
Representatives of the legislative, executive and judicial authorities of the CIS countries, prominent specialists of the legal sphere, representatives of international organizations, expert analysts and developers of information and legal systems have been invited to participate in the meeting.
The participants will discuss the extent to which model lawmaking meets today’s challenges, which instruments of legal convergence have proven their effectiveness, and which measures could help to increase the demand for model legal acts.
The conclusions and proposals resulting from the event will serve as a basis for further actions to strengthen regional cooperation and support sustainable legal integration in the CIS Member States.
