Natalia Kochanova Unanimously Re-elected as Speaker of Council of Republic of National Assembly of Republic of Belarus

Today, the meeting of the first session of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the eighth convocation was held under the leadership of Chair of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Belarus Igor Karpenko.

According to the result of the secret ballot, Natalia Kochanova was unanimously elected for the post of the Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus. She assured the members of the Council of the Republic that she would do her best for the prosperity of the people and the country.

Sergey Khomenko was elected Deputy Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus. Previously he held the post of the Minister of Justice of Belarus.

Chairs of the Standing Committees of the Council of Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus were also elected at the session.

Mikhail Rusy was elected Chair of the Standing Committee for Legislation and State Administration. Vladislav Tatarinovich became Chair of the Standing Committee for Economy, Budget and Finances. Igor Lutskiy – Chair of the Standing Committee for Education, Science, Culture and Social Development. Leonid Zayats became a new Chair of the Standing Committee for Regional Policy and Local Self-Government. Sergey Sivets – Chair of the Standing Committee for Foreign Affairs and National Security.

Natalia Kochanova informed about the preparations for the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia and the cultural and educational project “Memory Train”.

Igor Karpenko presented the new stuff of the upper chamber of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus. Among the elected members there are 18 women and 41 men. There are 34 people with state award, 8 people have academic degrees and titles. 5 members are heads of local councils of MPs, 8 are representatives of executive authorities.
