Ruben Rubinyan Elected Speaker of National Assembly of Republic of Armenia

The ruling Civil Contract Party nominated Ruben Rubinyan for the post of Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. His candidacy received 63 votes. A total of 91 out of 105 MP’s took part in the vote, according to the parliament’s official website.
In the previous convocation of the National Assembly, Ruben Rubinyan served as Vice Speaker of the National Assembly. He was also Deputy Chair of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation.
Ruben Rubinyan was born on 8 March 1990. He graduated from the Faculty of International Relations of Yerevan State University, University College London and Jagiellonian University in Poland. From May 2018 to January 2019, he served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia. He was one of the founding members of the Civil Contract Party and has served as an MP since 2019.
Parliamentary elections in Armenia were held on 7 June 2026. The IPA CIS Observer Team participated in monitoring the election campaign.
