National Constitution Day celebrated in Kirgizstan

Kirgizstan is marking the Day of the National Constitution. On this day in 1993, the XII session of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Kirgizstan adopted the national constitution. Throughout the years, the Constitution was amended on several occasions. 5 May is still an official holiday in the country pending a decision by the national parliament on the proposal to strike it out from the calendar of holidays, along with several other, there being too many.
