Creative Economy Days of CIS Countries to Be Held at Tavricheskiy Palace

From 28 to 31 October, St. Petersburg will host the first large-scale Creative Economy Days forum at the IPA CIS headquarters, the Tavricheskiy Palace.

The event will succeed the International Forum “Commonwealth of Fashion”, which has brought together industry professionals at the Tavricheskiy Palace for the past four years and will be integrated into the Creative Economy Days programme this year. The new platform will broaden the agenda to encompass 16 areas of the creative industries, ranging from gastronomy and architecture to traditional crafts and video games.

Preparations for the Creative Economy Days were discussed today at a meeting of the organizing committee held at the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

An important milestone in the implementation of the project was the signing of a quadripartite agreement at SPIEF 2026 between the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS, the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.

Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Inna Svyatenko emphasized that special attention at the forum will be devoted to the legislative dimension, particularly the protection of intellectual property. She also noted that draft laws on creative clusters and crafts are currently being prepared, while the share of the creative sector in Russia’s GDP has already reached 4.2 per cent. The goal is to increase this figure to 6 per cent by 2030.

Secretary General of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Dmitriy Kobitskiy called for making full use of the Assembly’s legislative potential to develop common approaches and standards for the legal regulation of creative industries across the Commonwealth.

He recalled that the Assembly has already adopted a number of important documents for the sector, including the Model Law on Creative (Cultural) Industries, the Model Code of Intellectual Property for Member Nations of the CIS and other instruments. He invited industry experts to help shape the agenda for the legislators’ future work and identify strategic areas for cooperation in this field.
