Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance with Kazakhstan extended for 10 years

According to the Protocol, after expiration the Treaty shall be extended and certain provisions updated considering the new political and economic context.

The Treaty has been extended for 10 years with automatic extension enabled for 10-year periods ahead.

The Protocol also states that the Parties shall take joint action aimed at building an effective framework within the CSTO ensuring collective security and response to crises, as well as foster further economic integration based on the agreed arrangements regarding the creation of the Eurasian Economic Union.

The Federation Council held its 335th retreat session in the IPA CIS headquarters.
