International conference Use of Weapons in Modern Conflicts: Humanitarian Aspects (in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross)

On 20–21 October 2016, the International Conference “Use of Weapons in Modern Conflicts: Humanitarian Aspects” will be held in the IPA CIS headquarters (St. Petersburg, Tavrichesky Palace). The Conference is jointly organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross and the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.

Participants will consider relevant problems of international humanitarian law development, such as: – Humanitarian aspects of use of conventional explosive weapons; – Humanitarian consequences of use of nuclear weapons.

The discussion of experts and participants will be held in four consecutive sections and its main results will be included in a final document. CIS parliamentarians, members of the IPA CIS permanent commissions, representatives of ministries of foreign affairs, defense, justice and health from countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, as well as regional and international experts are invited to attend this Conference.
