IPA CIS Observers Met with Human Rights Ombudsman and Head of Public Observation Headquarters in Belgorod

The IPA CIS International observers met with Commissioner for Human Rights in the Belgorod Region Zhanna Kireeva and member of the Civic Chamber of the Belgorod Region, head of the regional public observation headquarters Irina Borisova at the Russian Presidential elections.

The observers, representing Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Syria, Egypt, Cote de Ivoire, are attendees of the Center for Election Law and Process, Training of Election Organizers and International Observers of the Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov. The head of the Center Oksana Vladimirova took part in the meeting.

Zhanna Kireeva told the observers about the legislation of the Russian Federation on the presidential election, the procedure for the realization of citizens' electoral rights and the guarantees of their state protection.

Irina Borisova presented information about the organization of the process of public observation of elections in 2024. More than four thousand trained public observers will monitor in all territories of the region.

The observers were trained according to a special program developed by the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation and the Independent Public Monitoring Association.

In the course of training, observers were familiarized with the rights and duties, legislative aspects of activity and technologies used in elections.

Irina Borisova also presented the “Golden Standard of Observer of the Civic Chamber”.
