IPA CIS Observers Monitor Snap Voting in Brest and Grodno

The IPA CIS International observers monitored snap voting at the parliamentary elections in Belarus. On 21 February representatives of the IPA CIS held meetings with organizers of the elections, as well as visited seven polling stations in Brest.

The observers discussed the preparation and conduct of the election campaign with the leadership of the Brest Regional Election Commission.

Chair of the Regional election commission Alexander Koleda reported that the turnout in Brest region amounted to 6.13% on the first day of snap voting.

Advisor of the Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Sergei Karavaev told about the work program of the monitoring group of the IPA CIS in Belarus.

In Brest there was also a meeting with Chair of Regional Election Commission №1 Maxim Selyagin. He informed the observers that there were no complaints and appeals on the first day of snap voting. Ballots for voters were printed in Belarusian and Russian languages.

The IPA CIS International observers monitored the parliamentary elections in Belarus at the invitation of Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalia Kochanova and Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachevwas appointed the group's coordinator.

The international observers visited polling station №6, located in Grodno City Gymnasium named after A. Dubko. They also visited polling station №199, where they noted a large number of older voters.
