Using of Social Networks to Cover Election Campaign Interested Young Voters

On 15 February, an international seminar “Participation of youth of the Republic of Belarus in the electoral process” was held.

The seminar was organised by the IPA CIS IIMDD, the CEC of the Republic of Belarus, the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus. Also, students of St-Petersburg took part in the discussion.

Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat – Director of theIPA CIS IIMDD Ivan Mushket informed the participants of the meeting that at the invitation of the heads of the chambers of the Belarussian parliament, the IPA CIS international observers are taking part in the monitoring of the parliamentary elections.

Secretary of the CEC of the Republic of Belarus Elena Baldovskaya gave the welcoming speech. She told that all the measures of the Belarusian CEC were going according to plan, 200 international and about 37,000 national observers had been accredited.

Senior Vice-Rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus Olga Soldatova spoke about the cooperation between the Assembly and the Academy, which was driven by the signing of the Cooperation Agreement in 2023.

Head of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law of Pushkin Leningrad State University, expert of the IPA CIS IIMDD Roman Romashov addressed the participants of the seminar a video message.

Acting Head of the Department of the World Politics, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of International Relations of the St. Petersburg State University, expert of the IPA CIS IIMDD Dmitriy Baryshnikov spoke about the long-term monitoring of the elections in Belarus.

Head of the Centre for Public Relations and Electoral Process of the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Belyakov made a report on “Features of the 2024 election campaign in the Republic of Belarus.”

Member of the Youth Council under the CEC of the Republic of Belarus Oleg Sudnik told about the activities of the council within the framework of the election campaign of 2024.

Using of social networks to cover electoral processes was mentioned by young participants of the seminar as one of the most interesting and promising topics.
