On 16 November 2023, a session of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation was held in Bishkek within the framework of the 56th plenary session of the IPA CIS.

The event was chaired by Deputy Chair of the Commission, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachev.

The project was initiated by Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko and Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova. This year, school students from Armenia and Kyrgyzstan joined the project. The train route passed through the territory of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, it also included memorable battle sites of the Great Patriotic War.

The project gave youth from the Commonwealth countries an opportunity to get in touch with history, to learn about the exploits of previous generations, and also to establish direct youth contacts between the regions.

The theme of historic memory was continued by Chair of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus for Foreign Affairs and National Security Sergei Rachkov.
