Second Meeting of CIS Advisory Board of Heads of Election Administration Authorities was held

On 20 December, the second session of the CIS Advisory Board of the Heads of Election Administration Authorities was held online.

It was attended by Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Hovakimyan, Chair of the CEC of Belarus Igor Karpenko, Chair of the CEC of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurzhan Shayldabekova, Deputy Chair of the CEC of the Russian Federation Nikolay Bulaev, Chair of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of the Republic of Tajikistan Bakhtiyor Khudoyorzoda, Chair of the Advisory Board and Head of the CEC of Uzbekistan Zayniddin Nizamkhodjaev, as well as Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy, Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat – Director of the International Institute for Monitoring the Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD) Ivan Mushket and Deputy Chair of the CIS Executive Committee Ilkhom Nematov.

Dmitriy Kobitskiy invited the Advisory Board members to hold a regular meeting in person in St. Petersburg, at the Tavricheskiy Palace, in conjunction with a conference dedicated to the 30^th anniversary of international election observation in the Commonwealth.

The meeting approved the Procedures of the Advisory Board.

The meeting discussed the participation of the Advisory Board in in monitoring the elections of members of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on 25 February 2024 and the President of the Russian Federation on 17 March 2024.

The issues of strengthening the security of the electoral process and legal education and enlightenment of youth, involvement of youth in the electoral process were also discussed at the meeting.

The next meeting of the Advisory Board is scheduled to be held in the second half of 2024 in Tashkent.
