Work Сontinues in CIS to Update Concept for Cooperation in Field of Public Health Protection

The meeting of the expert group was held in Minsk on 23 April 2024 on finalizing draft amendments to the Concept for Cooperation between states of CIS in the field of public health and the Decision of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS on this issue.

The event was attended by representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and the CIS Executive Committee.

The experts reviewed the comments received on the draft documents and determined that a number of provisions of the draft Concept require additional elaboration and coordination.

The meeting was attended by Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights, Executive Secretary of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health Evgenia Vladimirova and Representative of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat at the CIS Executive Committee Igor Borovko.

At the suggestion of the Assembly representatives, an item on the harmonization of the regulatory framework and the development of model lawmaking in the field of public health protection was introduced into the section of the document devoted to the main areas of cooperation.

Following the meeting, it was decided to send the materials of the meeting to the CIS countries and hold an additional meeting of the expert group on June 4, 2024.

The need to modify the provisions of the Concept related to the pace of development of medicine and changes in the main trends there. The concept was first approved in 2003. New scientific discoveries have occurred in medicine in the pathogenesis of a number of diseases and in the development of medicines and vaccines. Information technologies and IT systems are actively used, personalized medicine is developing as other phenomena that will determine the development of medicine in the coming years.
