Tashkent will Receive Status of CIS Youth Capital in 2024

In 2024, the capital of Uzbekistan will have the status of the Youth Capital of the Commonwealth by the decision of the Council of the CIS Heads of Government. Tashkent received this right due to its significant experience in working with youth, realization of public youth initiatives, and high level of youth culture.

Tashkent is one of the largest cities in Central Asia. Of its more than three million inhabitants, half are young people under the age of 30, including about half a million between the ages of 18 and 30.

Tashkent will host a regular meeting of the CIS Advisory Board on Youth Affairs. A research to practice conference on the study of youth problems, an Olympiad and a Paralympics of five initiatives among the youth of the Commonwealth countries as well as a number of youth forums will be organized in the city.
