Valentina Matvienko: We Confirmed That We Become Center of International Women’s Movement

Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the Council of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Valentina Matvienko held a joint meeting of the Organizing Committee of the Eurasian Women’s Forum and the Council of the Eurasian Women’s Forum.

Summing up the results of the third Eurasian Women’s Forum, which took place on 13-15 October 2021 in the Tavricheskiy Palace – the IPA CIS headquarters, she noted the great international significance of the event. “We have once again confirmed that we become a center of the international women’s movement,” said Valentina Matvienko.

According to her, the Forum brought together extensive participation and turned out to be very informative. As part of it, 90 different events were held, nearly 600 speakers spoke in front of a multi-million audience, which was significantly expanded due to online broadcasts. Dozens of bilateral meetings took place on the margins of the Forum, which contributed to the development of international and inter-parliamentary relations.

Valentina Matvienko noted the great interest in the Forum from the international community, government officials and heads of international organizations, including a video greeting of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. The Chairperson also highlighted the personal participation of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

Valentina Matvienko highly appreciated the final document of the Forum and said that it would be sent to ambassadors to convey it to governments, presidents and the leadership of international organizations. She noted the role of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat in holding the event at a high level and handed over a letter of appreciation to Secretary General – Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Dmitriy Kobitskiy.
