Vladimir Putin held Meeting with Russian lawmakers in Tavricheskiy Palace

Russian President Vladimir Putin met in St. Petersburg with members of the Council of Legislators of the Russian Federation in the Tavricheskiy Palace, the headquarters of the IPA CIS.
The head of the state noted that the meeting of the Council of Legislators was timed to the Day of Russian Parliamentarism, which was celebrated yesterday, 27th April.
The President emphasized that this year the modern Russian parliament –both chambers of the Federal Assembly – will celebrate its 30th anniversary. They were elected on the same day the current Constitution was adopted – 12 December 1993.
Vladimir Putin thanked the members of the Council of Legislators for their consolidated joint work to make quick legislative decisions with the active participation and support of all Duma factions, the Federation Council and regional parliaments.
Vladimir Putin gave a special role to the direction of lawmaking that focuses on comprehensive support of domestic enterprises, research centers and labor collectives, new breakthrough projects in all sectors and areas, the overall expansion of freedom of entrepreneurship, removing barriers to business activity.
On 28th April, a meeting of the Council of Legislators of the Russian Federation in the headquarters of the IPA CIS was attended by Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the Council of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Valentina Matvienko, Speaker of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, member of the IPA CIS Council Vyacheslav Volodin, MPs, heads of regional legislative assemblies and representatives of the Government of the Russian Federation.
The members of the Council of Legislators discussed the state of inter-budgetary relations and their use as a tool for ensuring financial stability and socio-economic development of the regions in the new conditions and other issues.
Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation Anton Kotyakov, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergey Kravtsov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov and Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation Anton Siluanov took part in the discussion.
Valentina Matvienko noted that the plenary session was preceded by serious work: discussions of the relevant commissions and the meeting of the Presidium of the Legislative Council.
In connection with the upcoming celebration of anniversaries of the Great Patriotic War Speaker of the Federation Council called for the necessary assistance and special attention to all veterans and siege survivors.
Vyacheslav Volodin stressed that parliamentarism was developing along with the country and the political culture was increasing.
