20th Session of the PUIC Conference Underway in Baku

The 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) is taking place in Baku.
The event has brought together more than 150 delegates from over 40 countries, including 30 high-level participants representing 11 international organizations. The central theme of the Conference is “Fostering Sustainable and Inclusive Economic Development in the OIC Member States through Parliamentary Cooperation”.
The Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS is represented at the Session by Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Aydin Jafarov. He delivered a speech during the Session and spoke about the activities and priorities of the IPA CIS.
On the sidelines of the Conference, the IPA CIS delegation held meetings with Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) Ramil Hasan, Secretary General of the Arab Inter‑Parliamentary Union (AIPU) Ahmed Baabood, and Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) Asaf Hajiyev. The parties discussed promising areas of cooperation and current issues on the international agenda.
A meeting was also held with President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP) H.E. Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al-Jarwan and Speaker of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP) H.E. Dr. Djangrang Epainete Sendé. Preliminary agreements on cooperation were reached. The President proposed signing a Memorandum of Understanding and also expressed his principled readiness to participate in events organized by the IPA CIS.
