Intergovernmental Board on Periodical Publishing meets in Belarus

The Board meets on 11-12 November. The agenda has over 10 points, including the review of the tenth CIS-wide international contest the Art of Book, discussions of draft Agreement on the Promotion of Printed Media Sharing, as well as industry-specific efforts across the CIS, book expos, fairs, and related projects and initiatives.

The Intergovernmental Board on Periodical Publishing was founded in 1999 and includes representatives of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The Board promotes book industry cooperation and follow-up to the decisions made across the CIS in this sphere. On its initiative, the CIS saw adoption of such landmark documents as the Cooperation Agreement on Publishing, Promotion and Printing of Books and the Declaration on the Promotion of Book-Reading.
