Organizing Committee of Forum “Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories” Has Been Formed

The organizing committee of the International Forum “Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories” has been formed. The event will be held on 12-13 October 2023 in the Tavricheskiy Palace – the IPA CIS headquarters.

The organizing committee includes MPs from the Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Armenia, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Russian Federation, Republic of Tajikistan and Republic of Uzbekistan. 

The committee also includes representatives from the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Geographical Society, the High Mountain Geophysical Institute, the St. Petersburg Mining University, the Institute of Geography, Russian Academy of Science, the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Geography, National Autonomous University of Mexico.

The program of the Forum includes a plenary session, panel discussion and six roundtables, where the issues of socio-economic aspects of mountain regions development, preservation and promotion of mountain ethnos culture, employment of local population, optimization of ecological and economic relations in the mountains, preservation of biodiversity, hazardous natural and anthropogenic processes and others will be considered.

The Forum is organized by the IPA CIS, the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Geographical Society with the support of the CIS Executive Committee and the Government of St. Petersburg.

Within the framework of the event there will be the International Forum Travel Hub “Commonwealth” dedicated to the topic ofmountain tourism in the CIS countries.
