Vladimir Putin and Valentina Matvienko hold Meeting at IPA CIS Headquarters

A meeting between President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko took place at the Tavricheskiy Palace.

The meeting was held following the President’s discussion with members of the Council of Legislators under the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

The Speaker of the Federation Council emphasized the importance of the President’s participation in the work of the Council of Legislators on the day marking the 120^th anniversary of Russian parliamentarism. She noted that time has confirmed the validity of the principles established at that time, including the bicameral structure of parliament and the principles governing its interaction with the Government.

Valentina Matvienko also emphasized that one of the key topics discussed by the Council of Legislators was interethnic and interfaith harmony in society, as well as measures to further support it.

“By your decree, you have designated 2026 as the “Year of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia”, and at the parliamentary level we have discussed all these issues in great detail,” she said.

The Speaker also spoke about the active work of the Council for the Implementation of State Demographic and Family Policy under the President of the Russian Federation, which she heads.
