First meeting of Organizing Committee of Forum “Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories” Held in St. Petersburg

The first meeting of the Organizing Committee of the Forum “Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories” to be held on 12-13 October 2023 at the IPA CIS headquarters was held.
The meeting was presided by Chair of the Organizing Committee, Vice-President of the Group of companies of the VEB.RF Russian Export Center Oleg Khatsaev. He spoke about the composition of the Organizing Committee, the preparations for the Forum and the partners of the event.
The Organizing Committee included representatives from all CIS countries, as well as academia from Mexico and China.
Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Agrarian Policy, Natural Resources and Ecology Natalia Amburtseva introduced the business program of the Forum to the participants.
Senior research associate of the Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences Aleksey Gunya presented the draft agenda that is expected to feature a broad discussion on the policy- and law-making in the field of management and sustainable development of mountain territories.
The Forum is co-organized by the IPA CIS, the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Geographical Society.
The forum is expected to bring together the representatives of parliaments, executive authorities and local government of the CIS Member Nations and other countries, the world academic community and international organizations dealing with the issues of sustainable development of mountain territories.
The meeting was attended by members of the Organizing Committee from the parliaments and academic community of Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
