Heads of CIS Parliaments Pointed Out High Importance of Jogorku Kenesh in People’s Life

Heads of parliamentary delegations of the Commonwealth countries, ministers and MPs, public and political figures, as well as representatives of international organizations took part in the international conference dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic. The event was held in the building of the Kyrgyz Parliament.
The conference was opened by Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Shakiev.
The Speaker elaborated on the milestones of the 85-year history of the Kyrgyz Parliament and outlined the special role of the Jogorku Kenesh in the establishment and strengthening of the independence of the Republic.
The heads of the parliamentary delegations of the Commonwealth countries - Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova, Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev, Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva, Speaker of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Rustami Emomali, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ruben Rubinyan addressed the conference.
Chairperson of the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz Republic (1990-1993), Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic Medetkan Sherimkulov was the guest of honor at the conference. He called the decision of the Jogorku Kenesh to support the establishment of the IPA CIS one of the brightest pages in the history of the parliament.
