State Support Measures, Promotion of Local Brands, Museums in Designer's Life: Second Day of Forum Commonwealth of Fashion

The work of the International Forum “Fashion Commonwealth” continued at the IPA CIS headquarters – the Tavricheskiy Palace in St. Petersburg. Participants kept discussing topical issues of the industry, in particular, financial and non-financial measures of state support for the light industry.

One of the roundtables was organized by the Uztekstilprom Association.  The main topics of the meeting were integration of business and education in the textile industry of Uzbekistan, experience in promoting textile products to the world markets, development of silk production in Uzbekistan and the current state of raw material base.

Within the roundtable “Fashion Retail Today”, ways to promote novice designers in the world of fashion industry, ways of building work with buyers in modern conditions, new requirements for brands and shops, modern trends in fashion retail were discussed.

A round table on the interaction between educational institutions and industries was organized together with the St. Petersburg Committee for Labour and Employment. Much attention was paid to the local business support.

The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation co-organized the round table “Fashion as a Part of Museum Culture”, where the role of museums in the designer's life, design-diplomacy, as well as modern interpretations of national costumes were considered.

Director of the State Russian Museum Alla Manilova presented the exhibition “Fashion: from Avant-Garde to Surrealism” in the Ekaterininskiy Hall. The exhibition is a retrospective animated multimedia defile created on the basis of the art collections of the Russian Museum.

A number of agreements were signed on the sidelines of the forum.

The event is organized by the IPA CIS with the support of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation, and the Eurasian Women's Forum.
