Russian Language Training, Work of Translators and Legal Linguistics in CIS Discussed at Roundtables in Tavricheskiy Palace

On 27 October, the work of the international conference “Russian Language as a Basis for Integration Dialogue in the CIS” was continued in the Tavricheskiy Palace. Roundtables and a closing plenary session were held at the IPA CIS headquarters. Deputy Chair of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Science, Education and Culture Lyudmila Skakovskaya and Dean of the Faculty of Law, Director of the Research Institute for the State Language Issues at St Petersburg State University Sergey Belov held a roundtable “Russian language as the language of law-making in the CIS”.
The event was attended by Chair of the Committee of the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan on Legislation and Human Rights, Chair of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Legal Issues Ravshan Rajabzoda.
Also, a roundtable “Russian language in the CIS educational space: functioning parameters and prospects of spreading” was held.
The moderators of the meeting were Director of the Headquarters of the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature Alexander Korotyshev and member of the Presidential Council on the Russian Language, Director of the RUDN Russian Language Institute, Vice-President of the Russian Society of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature, leading expert of the Russkiy Mir Foundation Angela Dolzhikova.
The event considered national programs for advanced training of pedagogical staff, the results of the implementation of joint projects for the development of educational literature.
Roundtable “Russian as a translation language in the CIS space” organized by the Union of Translators of Russia was also held.
First Deputy Chair of the Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russian Federation on Culture Elena Drapeko performed at the opening of the event.
The participants discussed the following topics: the current condition of the Russian language as a language of translation in the system of relations among the CIS countries; institutionalization of industry translation.
The proposals of the roundtables participants will be included in the final resolution of the conference.
The international conference “Russian Language as a Basis for Integration Dialogue in the CIS” was held as a part of the Year of the Russian Language as a Language of Interethnic Communication in the Commonwealth of Independent States by the decision of the Council of the CIS Heads of State.
