Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan elects a new Speaker

At its regular session, the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan elected a new Speaker Kabibulla Dzhakupov by 103 votes, with one against. Under the terms of the Constitution, the Speaker of Mazhilis shall be elected by secret ballot at a plenary session. Prior to his nomination, Kabibulla Dzhakupov held the post of Vice-Speaker. The outgoing Speaker, Nourlan Nigmatulin was appointed Chief of staff at the Executive Office of the President.
