Enhancement of Regulatory Framework in Sphere of Preserving Historical Memory Discussed in Moscow

The scientific and practical conference with international participation on ”Preserving the Memory of those who Perished in the Defense of the Fatherland: Methodology of Archive-Research Work“ took place at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration.

Participants discussed various aspects of implementing state policies and issues related to improving the regulatory framework in the field of preserving historical memory. Experts addressed practical issues concerning the search for names of soldiers buried as unknown, establishing the fate of those missing in action, and heard the results of analyzing necessary measures to enhance efficiency in this area.

Representatives from the IPA CIS Secretariat, including IPA CIS expert, President of the Information-Analytical Center ”Remembering Everyone by Name” Galina Savelieva and Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security Issues Alexander Borisov participated in the event.

The Assembly plays a significant role in creating recommended legal mechanisms for perpetuating the memory of the courage and heroism of the Commonwealth Nations participating in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. In the year commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Victory in WWII, the IPA CIS adopted the model law on Perpetuating the Memory of those who Perished in the Defense of the Fatherland, defining the legal, economic, and organizational foundations of the state policy and international cooperation among CIS countries in the sphere of historical memory.
