International Forum Commonwealth of Fashion opened in Tavricheskiy Palace

On 9 November, the International forum “Commonwealth of Fashion” began its work at the IPA CIS headquarters – the Tavricheskiy Palace in St. Petersburg.

The project brings together representatives of the light and the creative industries, relevant ministries and departments, educational institutions of the Commonwealth countries on one platform.

The forum is being held for the second time. This year, its scale has grown significantly – more than 1,000 people participate in the event, the business program is designed for two days.

The main topics for discussion are the prospects for the development of light industry in the region in the era of global changes, opportunities for international cooperation, issues of raw materials supply and others.

A discussion of innovations in light industry, the features of modern consumer demand, the experience of players in advanced segments of the industry, opportunities and barriers to development was organized in partnership with the Eurasian Women’s Forum.

One of the key topics of the forum is the training of personnel for the light and fashion industries, “Professions of the future”, modernization of the training system in the perspective of the development of new technologies.

Also there was opened an exhibition with sketches of clothing models for home and outdoor activities, fully generated by artificial intelligence.

The Russian Ethnographic Museum, together with the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, organized a round table on the topic of preserving cultural codes, correctness and ethics of their use. The formats of cooperation between creative industries and museum, educational and scientific institutions were considered.

And besides, a discussion on the involvement of light industry in the closed-cycle economy, reducing the formation of textile waste, economic aspects of the implementation of chemical recycling of textiles was organized at the forum with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation.

On the first day of the forum, the professionals were presented with collections of famous and promising designers from different regions of Russia. On 10 November, the Ekaterininskiy Hall of the Tavricheskiy Palace will host a large display of collections of designers from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The event is organized by the IPA CIS with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, as well as the Eurasian Women’s Forum.
